The Xenia Police Division responded at 5:26 a.m. Friday to the first block of Haddon Court after a 911 caller reported their grandson was shot. Officers found the gunshot victim outside. He had a gunshot wound to his leg and an apparent graze wound on his back, according to Xenia Municipal Court documents.

The victim told detectives he went to Whitelow’s house prior to the shooting after his ex sent him pictures showing she was at Whitelow’s home, according to a police report. The victim reportedly yelled from his car and honked his horn before leaving.

He told detectives he was standing outside of his house later when a car pulled up, according to an affidavit. Whitelow got out of the front passenger seat.

The victim reportedly said he could see Whitelow had a handgun. When Whitelow approached the home and raised the gun, the victim ran back into the house, according to court records.

Whitelow then reportedly started shooting at the victim and the home.

Police found several spent shell casings outside the house.

Within seven hours, just before 12:30 p.m. Friday, investigators took Whitelow into custody, police said.

Charges were filed Friday against Whitelow, who remains held on the Greene County Jail.

Anyone with information or video related to the shooting is urged to call the Xenia Police Division Criminal Investigation Section at 937-376-7206 or the Xenia police tip line at 937-376-7206. Detective Brian Atkins is the lead investigator in the case and can be reached at batkins@ci.xenia.oh.us.
